It's been a while...

I've been lurking on other blogs, and I was reminded that there's people waiting for my posts. I didn't realize that people would be checking it out, like, expecting something. So it's not fair to keep anyone hanging. Here's I did last Saturday.

MCM and I went down to Norfolk for the commissioning of the George H. W. Bush. It was cold, packed, but a good...we hung out with good friends. If I remember right, it's the last ship of it's kind (but I forget what kind), and there's about 5,500 crewmen. And, I think it's going down to Florida.
We heard some speeches, quite a few actually. They passed on the orders, raised the colors, did all this stuff, and then they made the ship come alive. All the sailors who were standing in nice neat rows began to run on to the ship. They ran and ran and ran until they were all lined up along the edge of the carrier. Pretty cool, huh?
Then, at the end of it all we were buzzed by these jets, and also an older looking prop plane. Then we went to Applebees with another couple, also pregnant, and ate until our bellies were twice the size we were when we started. When we got home, I pretty much passed out on the couch for all afternoon. I like naps. I have more belly pics, but they're still on my camera...I'll see if I can pry them out.

Caution-Side Effects

I bet if people talked about all the negative side effects of pregnancy, like played them up as much as the good ones get mentioned, there'd be a whole lot less of accidental pregnancies. You know, like making sure they know that their bladder will never be get to it's 'full' capacity before having to be emptied. Or that all day feeling of nausea that, even though you've tried everything everyone has thrown your way with no success, will not go away. Or that your most favorite sleeping position, tummy down, will now be a constant battle between you and the belly. I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow, and I think I can see light at the end of the tunnel, perhaps...maybe it's just an steam vent, but I'll try not to be too disappointed if this nausea diggs its heels in and lasts past week 12. OH! I've got ultrasound pictures!! I'll post them when I'm done, because MCM is working on his and my mother-in-law's computer doing stuff to them. Because of that, the internet is bogged way down. Just loading this page took about all of 8.72 minutes, so I just *know* the uploading will take probably about 6 years, 4 months, and 3.5 days.

Oh, yeah, this too. We're at my in-law's house in Wisconsin. Wisconsin! That's like almost Canada!! Not that that's a bad thing, I frequent many blogs that oringinate in Canada. But so far north means that it's COLD and SNOWY. During dinner, we noticed that the current temperature was -6*F. That's on the other side of zero! Like, it could warm up 20 degrees and still be below freezing!! I think the highest it got today was maybe 7*. Seven!!

I'll tell about the plane ride later, but know this....it involves a mother with three kids (she does earn some brownie points for doing it by herself), a breakdown (not by any one under the age of 10), and a landing-phobic grown woman. *HINT* they're all the same person...

Isn't my little Bobby Joe so cute!!

These are a few of my favorite [Christmas] things...

**WARNING** this post has lots of pictures...just so you know **WARNING**

This is our Christmas tree this year. I just got the ornaments on today. I can't find the star we bought last year, so it's topless...but I think it looks pretty.

This one of the many "Our First Christmas" ornaments we've received. This one was a wedding present. Oh, it's very heavy, I had to support the branch it's hanging on with other branches, some rope, and one of those bamboo beams. All just so it wouldn't tip the tree over.

This one is from my mom. I like the golden stuff on top. It like wiggles with any slight movement :)

This one is super heavy too. I had to hang this on the exact opposite side to keep balance. Unfortunately, I only had one bamboo beam, so that branch at the bottom? Yeah, it's sitting on it.

This is my favorite first Christmas ornament. It doesn't exactly say that, but it's a cute couple. I guess next year, we'll have to get one with three, count them-three, snowmen/people/characters :)

Don't be fooled by his apparent cuteness. This squirrel is as evil as the others that live on Bob Jones University campus. Once, I was walking to class or something, and I came upon a squirrel doing who knows what in the grass. I stomped my feet on the sidewalk and startled it. It ran around in a few circles, scampered up the first tree it saw, ran out on a branch, didn't bother to notice the branch ended and fell about 20 feet back to the ground, almost exactly where it started...it lay there stunned for a few seconds, then ran back the same tree didn't make the same mistake as before...dumb squirrels.

This is my favorite frog ornament. Who can resist a frog eating a peppermint?? I have many more frog ornaments, but to keep your hardrives from crashing, I refrained from adding 20 more pictures.

Stay with me, I'm almost done. These last two are my only nurse ornaments. There I'm done! That wasn't so bad was it??

Forgive me, I forgot about my pickle! But I won't comment on it...just...here.

It's a....?!

Is it possible to have a baby bump this early? Maybe it's my imagination, but maybe it's not. (Yes, my back really does curve that much. No, I'm not sticking it out) Or maybe it's my butt that's big...I never thought about that one...

Then again, maybe so. I'll tell you one thing, something is growing in there cause when I sleep on my stomach, like I like to, 'stuff' starts pressing on things. It is not comfy, not at all.

On a cheerier note...here's the progress I've made on Bobby Jo's quilt. I've got most of the pieces cut and some of them even sewed together. I decided to go with the pattern I first found. One, I'm impatient to start. And, two, I know I'll start slacking about halfway through. And when I do slack, I'll have the time to take off to slack.

That's it, bed time for me. I can't type worth beans, every fifth key stroke is backspace about 6 letters....

Finishing stuff

Here's some pics of some of the stuff I started.

This one is the one I started a billion years ago that I received with not enough binding.

This one I sewed together a few days ago. I don't have any stuffing for it, so I'm stuck until I get to the store.

And this one I'm about to sew the binding together to finish it.

I really want to start on the baby's quilt, but I think the rent takes precedent, right?

Birthday surprises and productivity

My favourite birthday present this year was my sewing machine! I've been waiting all week long to finally use it, and today was the day. I'm finishing up what few quilting products I'd started before I had stuff like college and then a job to cloud my days. One was a mini quilt from....before 12th grade, I can tell you that! I was missing a piece for the edging, but found some suitable stuff in my parent's attic. With the arrival of the sewing machine, and the pending arrival of Bobbie Jo, I've got my sights fixed on making a quilt before said baby is born. I found a pattern called 'crumbs' today. Let me go see if I can find a pick online (my picture taking has gone on strike)...here's crumbs. I guess I have to wait until we find out what type we're having for me to buy the fabric and start cutting. I'm not to big on the diagonal layout, so if any of you, my thousands many few readers, have any baby quilt ideas send them my way. I hate applique, and curves, but I'm up to the challenge of a harder level thing.

On the Baby front, 7 weeks tomorrow and still not active morning sickness. Just the nausea that shows up every now and then, more at night it seems. And after eating. I was going to get some ginger ale, but I forgot. My favourite, orange juice, gives me heartburn :( I still haven't gained any weight.

That's about it.

An Attempt

to win something for once in my life time. I never do, never. But I'm blogging about Glow Mama that perchance I might once win something.

Bobbie Jo is wrecking havoc on my stomach today. I don't really feel like eating, even though I know I need to. But when I do I still feel bad. It's a lose lose. One bright note, I haven't thrown up yet :)
