Road trip, baby, road trip

We did a risky thing. We took a 6 month old on a 7 hour road trip. And we started at 5pm. Guess who ended up screaming at 10pm? Brendon Guess who wanted to be entertained the whole ride down? Brendon Guess who found it hard to nap in his seat while he could hear mommy and daddy just out of sight? Brendon Guess who, every time his little eyes found mine, reached out and cried begged for me to hold him? Brendon Guess who woke up to eat every 2 hours at night when we finally got to our destination? Brendon Guess who normally sleeps in the car, but didn't? ME! Guess who will never considering taking another road trip with a baby again? ME! Guess who drove most of the way and didn't get frustrated when I wanted to just give up and stop and live where we happened to stop? Mark :) thanks!

Aren't you glad I shared, so that you can be fully aware of what awaits you if you decide to travel with a baby? I can't imagine if there were TWO of them! I think I wouldn't have any hair left to fall out! But we survived, and we had a good time with Melinda, Hannah, Brie, and Janna, and various other friends we saw.

As good as it was to get away, it was even better to get home. And, you know how, when you're packing for a trip, the mess just multiplies, no matter how much you try to not let it, and when you come home, there's a huger mess waiting for you? (and I think I used way too many commas!) Well, I did my best to clean up (after I finished packing and before we left) so we could come home to a cleanish house. We did! It was so nice to have somewhere to dump the junk that was created by the hours in the van, and not have to worry about adding to the chaos! I highly suggest that! What?! You already do that!? I guess I'm a bit behind in learning neat housekeeping tips. Next thing you know, you'll be telling me that you have a laundry room on the same floor as your dressers (I want one!) WHA-?! I give up! I can't compete with you, I'm a failure. Epic fail!

Just call me Ep.

And I lived happily ever after

Can I just say that her hands were amazing?! Sure they were aged, not as strong as they used to be. Perhaps a little thinner, but they did a great job.

I went for a prenatal massage today. Blondie gave it to me for a baby shower present. Actually, she gave me 2 prenatal and 2 postnatal massages. Today was the first *sigh*

I had to drive through The Tunnel to get there, just me and my apprehension. I mad sure that I had my music, water and cell phone just in case something happened. It wasn't that bad actually. Traffic flowed nicely and I made it out the other end before I could be swallowed whole *whew*

I got there, "signed in" (their words not mine), entered the bathroom/locker room/shower room. It was pretty much plushy plushy. I had a robe, slippers, disposable underwear, and as many towels as I could use at my disposal. As big as my belly is, the robe still swallowed me up. Heh.

When my masseuse came to get me, I really hoped she was just the go-fer. She looked really frail and...old. But, boy, oh, boy, could she massage. She found this one spot, a muscle with a knot that I didn't even know I had. The muscle, that is. She rubbed and kneaded and pressed and oiled and kneaded some more *melts at the memory of it*

I hope she didn't mind my legs. They're not exactly hairy, but I wouldn't call them smooth, either. They're almost a cross between sandpaper and cacti. Know how legs get when you put lotion or oil on them...and if there's the slightest bit of growth on them...it becomes awful like...porcupine prongs. Or is it prines? Or prickles?

The drive back...of course there was a "disabled vehicle" in the tunnel. But really, I only spent about 15 minutes or so extra, waiting on the vehicle to be towed away. Yet again, the tunnel let me slip through it's jaws unscathed.

*sigh* I love happy endings.

Caution-Side Effects

I bet if people talked about all the negative side effects of pregnancy, like played them up as much as the good ones get mentioned, there'd be a whole lot less of accidental pregnancies. You know, like making sure they know that their bladder will never be get to it's 'full' capacity before having to be emptied. Or that all day feeling of nausea that, even though you've tried everything everyone has thrown your way with no success, will not go away. Or that your most favorite sleeping position, tummy down, will now be a constant battle between you and the belly. I'll be 11 weeks tomorrow, and I think I can see light at the end of the tunnel, perhaps...maybe it's just an steam vent, but I'll try not to be too disappointed if this nausea diggs its heels in and lasts past week 12. OH! I've got ultrasound pictures!! I'll post them when I'm done, because MCM is working on his and my mother-in-law's computer doing stuff to them. Because of that, the internet is bogged way down. Just loading this page took about all of 8.72 minutes, so I just *know* the uploading will take probably about 6 years, 4 months, and 3.5 days.

Oh, yeah, this too. We're at my in-law's house in Wisconsin. Wisconsin! That's like almost Canada!! Not that that's a bad thing, I frequent many blogs that oringinate in Canada. But so far north means that it's COLD and SNOWY. During dinner, we noticed that the current temperature was -6*F. That's on the other side of zero! Like, it could warm up 20 degrees and still be below freezing!! I think the highest it got today was maybe 7*. Seven!!

I'll tell about the plane ride later, but know this....it involves a mother with three kids (she does earn some brownie points for doing it by herself), a breakdown (not by any one under the age of 10), and a landing-phobic grown woman. *HINT* they're all the same person...

Isn't my little Bobby Joe so cute!!
