Unfounded fears

I've been threatened with my life if I every post pictures of another blow out. I'm not posting pictures, just posting about it! :D The bambino and I went to to Wally-World today to get some much needed groceries. If you were to open my fridge, you'd see...1) milk...2) that's about it. So yeah, it was a much needed trip. Anyways, I knew it was the bambino's naptime, so I took my Moby wrap, which I pretty much love, and slid him in it to do our shopping. In spite of the cart that would not steer straight, I managed to get almost done before BamBam started to stir. He made his little grunting noises, then I heard it.
*insert suspenseful music here*
He pooped. And not just any poop. This poop was all the poop since Sunday some time. He's gotten in to this bad habit of saving his poop for several days then letting it all out at the most inconvenient time (to be changed and cleaned up). A wedding rehearsal, Wally-World, Sunday school...yeah, not so cool. Anyways.
I spent about 2 minutes hoping that it wasn't a lot, just like, the overflow (graphic I know!). However, the smell....need I say more? The smell made it clear that it was not, and could not be contained in a Huggies size 2 diaper. My 11 1/2 week old son will not be deterred by a mere diaper. Oh no! I peeked at the fabric covering his back, *whew* nothing was showing on the outside layer. I lifted that one up, uh oh...I saw some wetness...not good. I skipped right to looking down the back of his shirt. OH MY GOODNESS!
I should not have done that...the smell was worse than the sight! I calmly replaced all the fabric and decided to finish up shopping. I mean, he was already dirty, it had already leaked out and on to my wrap. It's not like I was going to save something from getting dirty, was I? *shrugs* I think my imagination went into overdrive after that. Every little look from other shoppers was a "ew, what's that?!" Every little laugh was "she's got poop leaking out!"
I was trying to remember if I had some clothes in the car that would fit him, and all I could think of was this "super baby" out fit under his seat. It was, well, still is, a new born size. Yeah, I don't think he'd enjoy being stuffed in that so much...so then, I was at Wally-World, right?! They'd have some clothes on sale that I could use to get him home in. Yeah, not so much. NOTHING! It was either way too big (think 24 month or 4T) or way too small (think preemie). Or, it was girls clothing. I wasn't THAT desperate yet...I found nothing.
Well, in the end, I wrapped him up in a receiving blanket so he wouldn't get any residual poop on his carseat. We came right home and I dumped him in the tub. He was probably thinking, "wait, it's not bedtime yet!"
You know, I almost *almost* didn't bring a diaper bag. *almost*
Oh, big news! This wedding I was at this weekend, I was a bridesmaid in it. I hung out with the bride and the other maids, so I left the bambino with my parents a lot. Thursday night was the rehearsal and dinner and Mark wasn't going to be in town yet, so I left the bambino with my parents for the night. That night HE SLEPT THROUGH THE WHOLE NIGHT! Did you catch that?! Oh, you missed it!? He slept through the whole, entire night! It was probably about 9 or 10 until 6. Yeah, he was up at six, but that's ok (my parents are early risers) because he didn't wake up to munch at 2 or 3 or 4! Sure, he wouldn't do it for me or his daddy, but he'd do it for gramma and grampa. I was happy, but concerned that it was a one night stand thingy. It wasn't he continued to sleep through the night even when I stayed with him. That's the big news! My baby is sleeping through the night! Right before I went back to work. I had nothing to worry about, I guess!
Another milestone we reached was my first day back at work. It was a good day to start on. I only had 5 patients, two of which left the floor before I got there. One of those never came back, the other didn't come back until 1130. I was hoping things have changed for the better. Not so much. There were two new people (at least two) hired since I've been gone. One just got off of orientation; the other is still on it. But it wasn't as bad as I worried it would be.
I guess this post is long enough, besides I have to go start dinner else we might end up eating pancakes...AGAIN! :)

Some times no news isn't good news

I'm still cooking this child. I have another appointment tomorrow, and I might be able to be persuaded to be induced, *MIGHT* I haven't hit the nesting phase yet, at least where I clean and clean and clean. I've organized our new TV stand with our DVD's, BlueRays, XBOX games, and such. I think it looks pretty nice :D We're getting rid of this huge wooden entertainment center that was a hand-me-down, and we're giving to one of MCM's friends. We're also giving him our most comfy recliner *sniff* It was also a hand-me-down. But Alan is ecstatic to get anything for free. I mean, his whole family hoards junk like nobody's business! They'd rather keep and try to fix it, no matter what it takes, than buy a new one. They keep *EVERYTHING* But anyways, to each his own.

I just have to find a place to put our pictures and such that sat on top. I was thinking maybe those wall shelves. But then I'd have to make holes in the walls, and I don't think I have enough time before the baby comes.

I did get asked today when my baby's due. I looked at her, smiled and said "Yesterday." The lady checking out in front of me laughed that knowing laugh. *sigh* I'm not looking forward to the questions at church. Don't know I could citizen-arrest them for harassment?!?!

I just realized, while I was shopping at WallyWorld, that since I'm out of work for a while, I can do my nails all fancy and with tips :D I liked them the one time I had them, but they tore up my nails. I did pick up a french manicure kit. That's really all I like on my fingernails. Anything else gets distracting. and when it chips or gets scratched....drives. me. up. a. wall.

I might see if I can convince my wonderful loving husband to get Taco Bell for dinner. I really want one of those new bacon burritos. I'm excited about it because I don't think it has beans in it :D

....I forget...

So much pressure to blog, sheesh. Whatever. Here's a picture of the Bump. I took them Monday, I think. I can't be sure of anything these days. I'm really suffering from baby brain. Speaking of baby brain, I was shopping at Wal*Mart today, you know, for groceries and food and food and stuff. Here's the thing, I set my wallet in the trunk while I load the groceries, and stick the keys in my pocket, just in case. But not today. Today, I dropped the keys in the trunk with my wallet. Today, I forgot the keys weren't in my pocket. Today, I locked my wallet, my keys, AND my phone in the trunk...before I had unlocked the doors. I briefly considered throwing myself at the feet of a stranger to let me use their cell phone...then I remembered that stores have phones too...So I walked back through the door to the customer service, all the while flipping back and forth between sobbing and and laughing my head off...I called my Knight in Dr Pepper Pants to come save me. But since they were in the wash or something, he didn't come wearing them. At least, he did come, right?

I think that's it. I can't be sure any more these days...
*sigh*
I hope it gets better. I've got good help from my coworkers though. Most of them are parents, completely understand, and laugh with me when I cannot remember their names.

Mom, if you come visit you can see it for real!

If I had the Money...

Remember my post about Nurse's Week or whatever? Well, the hospital, in appreciation of our tremendous work load, gave us a gift certificate to a thingy. It's called Institute of Health and Healing. Don't go charismatic on me, not THAT kind of healing. They offer things likes massages, facials, and the such. I finally made an appointment, like 3 months after getting it. I went yesterday. Oh. My. Word. If I had the money and time, I'd go like...as often as I could. She started with my face...my poor nose....it doesn't like to be touched. After feeling like my face was being stretched off, she moved on to my scalp. The funny thing is, I actually did my hair yesterday. It didn't make a difference. Good thing I had a hair tie with me, huh? After feeling like my various muscles and joints had been used more than ever, she did my feet. Boy, was she in for a shock. My toes are always ice cold...ask MCM...her expression was "I think they're frostbitten!" So she put some warm moist towels on them. The warm part helped, the moist part didn't. She gave me good advice though. "Don't go skiing. You'll definitely get frostbite, then!"

MCM and I decided something last night. Well, we decided a few things, but you don't need to know *ALL* the decisions...I'm going to hire a maid. Just to do the dishes and the laundry. I can keep up with everything else. Maybe the bathroom cleaning too, and the sweeping. Oh, and the cooking, and might as well the grocery shopping. Yeah, I'll do the...uh...I'll make the bed, and, uh...the blogging definitely. If I had the money, I'd do that.

Speaking of grocery shopping, it's that time again. I went to make dinner, tuna melts, last night. I opened and drained the tuna, put it in a bowl, went to get the mayo and the cheese...the following went something like this:

me: "Did you use the last of mayo the other day?"

him: "Yeah, I did."

me: "Next time could you let me know? Thanks"

him: "Can't me make it without mayo?"

me: "No. We don't have any cheese, either"

him: "Let's just have something else?"

me: "uh..."

him: "you already opened it, didn't you?"

me: "yeah."

Then I proceded to get frustrated with the mess of tupperware to put the tuna in. I couldn't find the right top in the mess....then he pulls it out of the other cabinet...because he put it there...but I won't rag on him, he unloaded the dishwasher for me...*waggles eyebrows*

I'm headed to the store. Why do we have to spend money to live?

Are meteorologists ALWAYS right?

It's rainy today,
as was yesterday,
just like the day before,
and like it will be tomorrow.

Johnny Cash, our local meteorologist, said that the computerized forecast said it'd clear up Wednesday or Thursday. Then he said, and I quote, "Computers don't predict the weather, meteorologists do. I'm the meteorologist and I say it will last until at least Friday." No sign of sky anywhere, just mist basically floating around waiting to stick to whatever comes along. Namely, me, my car, and me.

Why was I out there, you may ask, I was running errands for our (meaning Mark and me) family.
*big grin*

Like, depositing a check, buying hose filters for the washer, returning a present (I had bought for a friend that I forgot to take to South Carolina to give her so I bought her another one and returned the old one).

I also did good homey things around the...well...home. I washed laundry, which I can finish because I bought hose filters, I did a load of dishes, I watched several episodes of House, MD.
Forgive me, Mark, I was bored :)

Weel, not much else going on. I guess I'll go amuse myself elsewhere.

Cookies and Pictures

I made cookies the other day. My feeble attempt to get into the spring season. I have to work Easter Sunday, and I'm bummed about that. So I made cookies, one of my favorite pastimes. You would not believe the trouble I went through to make these. First, I had been planning on making cookies for a while, so I had picked up some writing icing at Target in the 'See Spot Save' section. I love that section. You can get inexpensive cheap things for a buck.

I mean, how great is that?! I also picked up a pair of cookie cutters, since we had none. They were little flimsy things, a flower and something else. Anyways, I obviously needed more than that, because the little edges of the flower would have burned, or something like that. I don't remember, it's been a long day at work. I first went to Wal-Mart, then Target to find my perfect cookie cutters.

I saw these little weird looking things, but I couldn't see how they worked for making nice looking cookies. Until I looked at the back. The four cookies fit together to make two little stand up things. All I wanted was some simple cookie cutters. Nothing complicated like those things. The saleswoman/shelve stocker/whatever told me they didn't sell cookie cutters. Nothing else except what those funky looking things were. What the-?!

So I decided that Wal-Mart was definitely not the winner of my money today. I went to Target. Cha-ching! Well, kinda. I had to scrounge high and low to find what I found. I know you're expecting me to come out with this big thing of every holiday cookie cutters. Nope. I even had to go the bake-ware section. Imagine that! But guess what I found there...no, really, go ahead and guess...I found a measly little three-pack.

There was a star, a circle and a square with wrinkled edges. They were really brightly colored, like made for a toddler to play with. But they got the job done. Now for the recipe. I opened my Betty Crocker Cookbook, and the first thing on the ingredients list...powdered sugar. Who puts powdered sugar in roll-out sugar cookies?!?! Not me! I searched the web for my good old recipe from Better Homes and Garden.

I had to go through many subscription refusals to find it. But I finally found it. No problem, until I got to the 6 cups of flour. Six cups?? I wasn't sure if we had six cups. We did, barely, and I mean barely. Like with the bare scrapings left in the bottom of the cannister bare.
Smart me, I made sure I measured out the flour
before I started making the cookies. Smart me, now my biggest bowl was full of six cups of flour.

The recipe said add it at the end...so I restarted the recipe in the next biggest bowl. When it came part to hand mix the rest of the flour in, I took my rings off so they wouldn't get all messy. And what would you know, I just managed to drop them both into the nasty of the nasty. Fun, huh? But I got the rest of the stuff mixed in with fairly no problems. Smart me, I also bought a rolling pin the other day. Rolled, cut, not baked. I read somewhere about painting unbaked cookies with food coloring (which I also had happened to pick up :D). I revealed my artistic abilities, voila!I really had fun making the cookies. And most of them takes pretty good. The stars, the dark ones, got a little tan, but the pale, pasty ones are the best. Still softish and yummy. I was going to bring some to work to share, but everyone there is on some sort of diet or another. So I didn't but I did bring some for my lunch. Those vultures, they spied my cookies, and jumped on them. Almost ripped them out of my little fragile ziploc baggy. Well, not really, but when I mentioned I thought about bringing them, the first thing verbalized was 'Yeah, but most of us are on diets!' But they said bring them anyways, so I will. Tomorrow. But for tonight, it's bed time, and cuddle with Mark time. Then it's back to work with the cookies tomorrow.
